The Jaguars Season
By Shiva Ramesh
The Jacksonville Jaguars have already given fans plenty to talk about this season. They started with a big win, lost a close game, and then bounced back with another strong performance. After three games, the Jaguars finished September with two wins and one loss. With October coming up, fans are hoping the team can keep moving in the right direction.
On September 13, the Jaguars opened the season at home with a 34–10 win over the Cleveland Browns. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for 245 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. One of the highlights was Parker Washington’s 30-yard touchdown catch to open the scoring. Jacksonville’s defense also helped by forcing turnovers and giving the offense more chances with the ball. The Jaguars led 24–0 at halftime, making it hard for Cleveland to catch up. It was the kind of start Jacksonville fans were hoping for.
The September 20 game against the Denver Broncos had a different ending. Jacksonville lost 20–13 after leading 13–3 early in the second half. Bhayshul Tuten scored a rushing touchdown, and Parker Washington finished with 98 receiving yards. However, Denver scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Jonah Coleman’s three-yard touchdown run gave the Broncos the lead, and Jacksonville could not score again. It was a disappointing loss and a reminder that playing well early is not enough to win a whole game.
The Jaguars came back on September 27 by beating the New England Patriots 35–6. Lawrence threw three touchdown passes, with Josh Cameron, Jakobi Meyers, and Parker Washington each catching one. On defense, Travis Hunter intercepted a pass in the end zone before halftime. Later, Jarrian Jones intercepted another pass, setting up a touchdown run by Chris Rodriguez Jr. Jacksonville scored two touchdowns just 18 seconds apart in the third quarter, helping put the game out of reach.
October will give the Jaguars more chances to prove themselves. They will play against the Cincinnati Bengals on October 4 before traveling to London to face the Philadelphia Eagles on October 11 and the Houston Texans on October 18. I think these games will show whether Jacksonville can keep playing well away from their home. Protecting Trevor Lawrence, avoiding turnovers, and staying focused until the game is over will be important. I think the Jaguars have a chance to make the playoffs if they play more consistently. They need to learn from the Denver loss and keep working together on both offense and defense. There is still a long season ahead, but there are reasons to have hope. The Jaguars have shown they can win big games. Now they need to show they can keep winning.
